Hohenroth Forest Path
Children can experience the forest with all their senses, and learn interesting things through play on the Hohenroth forest path. In 2003 the SOS Village community Hohenroth and the forestry authority Hammelburg got together to create a 1.5 km (just under a mile) long walk which allows visitors to both experience and learn about woodland.
Whether in pine-cone throwing, long jump in comparison to the forest's inhabitants, or by building a tower with irregular blocks of wood - some of the activities challenge the whole family or class to compete. Other activities require the use of the senses. Who can find the most animal silhouettes on the Hunter`s Path? The Barefoot Path lets you discover things by touch, and the tree telephone allows experiments with the acoustic qualities of a 20m tree-trunk.
The path is particularly suiitable for families and primary school age children (or Beavers and Cubs). However, some of the activities will prove a great challenge to young people. This activity can be very suitably combined with a walk through the SOS Village Community Hohenroth. More information about the Forest path can be found in the Programme Office.
