Arriving by plane

Rieneck lies roughly 80km east of Frankfurt/Main airport (FRA). From the airport train station, reaching the Guide and Scout Castle is straightforward. Here's the Deutsche Bahn journey planner and more information on group travel.

Frankfurt Airport has two railway stations

Both stations are connected to Terminal 1

There is a local railway station, the Regionalbahnhof, for S-Bahn and regional trains (the Regional-Express) at Terminal 1, Level -1.

Important: Don't get mixed up with Fernbahnhof. All trains to GEMÜNDEN (MAIN)/WÜRZBURG leave from the Regionalbahnhof.

Catch the S-Bahn (S 8) to HANAU and go as far as FRANKFURT (HBF) HAUPTBAHNHOF (first stop in the tunnel). Walk up to the main hall and take the regional train Regional-Express (RE) to WÜRZBURG.

Important: Make sure you don't board an InterCity (IC or ICE) train!

Get off at GEMÜNDEN. If you are lucky you have made arrangements for a pick-up from there. Otherwise, there is a connecting train Regionalbahn to SCHLÜCHTERN. Rieneck is the very first stop on the way.
For a small fee we can collect your luggage from Rieneck station and from there it is then a pleasant 20 minutes walk along a footpath through the valley towards the castle.

If you get lost on the way, you can always call the Castle: (++49) 9354 902317
